Three Weeks!

Eeks! So I've been really terrible about updating! We've just been so busy these days...

Anywho, we're 3 weeks away from Adele's due date... how crazy is that? Since our last post we've been busy getting the nursery ready, had 4 baby showers, went to childbirth classes and took Adele on her first trip of many to Baylor for Homecoming!

It's been so much fun preparing for our little girl, but I'm so ready to have her here! I'm going to the doctor every week now, so you know it's getting close.

Who knows? My next post might be about her arrival! Or, at the rate I've been posting on her first birthday, lol.

Until then, here are some photos of her nursery and one of me on Christmas day - I'm getting so big, but I only have 3 more weeks to go... how much bigger can I get???

It's a Girl!

So, I know this post is a little delayed, but.... it's official... Justin will have another girl in his life in addition to me and Macy! Isn't he just the luckiest???

I was a complete ball of nerves the day of the ultrasound. Not only were we finding out what the baby was, but we were going to get to see him or her! The last time we saw the baby, it was just a little bean, so I was so excited to see how it had developed. Here I am at 20 weeks just before we left to find out what she was!

During the appointment, they pointed out the baby's legs, arms, hands, feet, little heartbeat... and then she said it, "It looks like a little girl, congratulations!" I can't even explain how amazing that moment was... for one, I was convinced I was having a boy, so I was very surprised! I immediately started thinking about all the precious moments I was going to share with her, and all the cute stuff I was going to get to buy, lol. Justin was probably thinking about all the headaches he was about to have, lol. In all seriousness though, we both were so filled with joy, and so excited to finally picture our little girl. We truly can't thank God enough for this precious blessing. Here's what she looked like that morning.

We decided to name her Adele Margaret. We just love the name Adele and Margaret is after my sweet Mammaw - who means so much to me!

After, the appointment, Justin and I couldn't help but go buy something pink and frilly for little Adele. We also started working on her nursery, which, now a few weeks later, has come along very nicely! I'll post pictures when it's completely finished.

Other than that, the pregnancy has been amazing. I've been so blessed. I've only gained about five pounds, which my doctor said was fine. I haven't been nauseous or too tired. Adele moves A LOT and Justin has already been able to feel her kick, too.

I've also taken up making cutesy little headbands... my mom made all our hair accessories growing up, so I figured I could dothe same. I'm actually quite impressed with my skills, check it out below.

We've got about another 17 weeks to go... I think it's going to just blow by! Until next time...

Woh Woh Woh

Well, we're 17 weeks now! Since my last post, we had a doctor's appointment, I made my first trip to the maternity section and we've even ordered our nursery furniture!

Our last doctor's appointment was a week ago. We got to hear the heartbeat again, which is so surreal! I love hearing that woh woh woh sound... so amazing! I've gained two pounds, which is very hard for me to imagine because my tummy is really poking out now. I thought for sure I was going to step on that scale and I was going to be up 10, lol! That being said, Dr. Schroeder said two pounds was perfect for how far along I was.

I'm also still waiting for this "glow" I've heard my whole life that pregnant women have. Currently, I have a stuffy nose, bleeding gums and acne that rivals a 13-year-old's. I'm looking pretty horrific these days, but sweet Justin keeps assuring me of how beautiful I am. All in all though, I can't really complain. Being pregnant has been a breeze so far... let's hope we keep this up!

Also, here are some pics of my growing bump! Here I am at 16 weeks preggers before going out for Lauren's birthday last weekend.

Lauren's birthday was a ton of fun! It was soo good to see her and Carlycakes since I hadn't seen them since I told them I'm expecting. That weekend also most likely marked my last visit to a bar before the baby comes, lol. Going to a bar when you literally can't drink is really strange... plus I had convinced myself that I was causing permanent hearing damage to our unborn child. Thank God this is one fear that Google actually debunked for me!

Other than that, the countdown has started... we only have 17 more days until we find out if Baby Wood is a boy or a girl. We can't wait to find out! Until then let us know what you think...

Are you pregnant... or just fat?

During the last two weeks my belly has started to poke out. Unfortunately, I don't look pregnant quite yet. I just look like I've been eating a little too many tacos. My pants don't really button any more, so I've been using the rubberband method to keep them fastened, however, I generally stick to skirts and dresses these days. Thank goodness it's summer, so I can get away with that!

Anywho, I can't wait until I'm obviously pregnant, which should be in only a couple of weeks. I've been putting off the maternity clothes shopping, but I think that's only at most a couple of weeks away.

In other news, Justin and I started looking at baby furniture. Since it looked like we were going to get something online, we went ahead and ordered this adorable changing table/dresser and crib. We figured this way if we ended up not liking it, we'd have enough time to come up with a plan b. We got both pieces of furniture in about a week later... not so adorable in person, lol. Also, the stains didn't match. Good thing we were proactive. So, we sent both back today and ordered another set from JC Penney. We're really excited about this next prospect! Fingers crossed that this one works out! We'll definitely post pictures when we're for sure set on this one.

As far as any pregnancy symptoms these past couple of weeks, I've been craving strawberries like crazy. My emotions have also been in full swing... I cried watching "13 Going on 30." The scene at the end when Matt and Jenn are moving into the pink dreamhouse... something about that just got me going into a full-on sob. Pretty pathetic, haha.

OK, well, that's all for now! I'll try to update after our next appointment on Aug. 2... so exciting!

A Wee One

Wait, is that two lines? What does two lines mean again? Well, that one's a little lighter than the other one... Hold on, let me read the packaging for the hundredth time. I think it mean's we're pregnant.

That was May 17, 2011 - one of the happiest days of our lives. Justin and I have been so excited to add a little one to our family for a few months now, so seeing the positive result that morning was a very welcome site. We went on about our day as if nothing had changed. We decided we didn't want to tell anybody until we went to the doctor. Keeping it quiet was really hard! We ran into so many family members and friends that we just wanted to spill the beans to, but we did really good. Hiding it the first few weeks wasn't hard at all because God blessed me with an amazing first trimester. I didn't have any morning sickness at all... I've been really tired, but that's all. No complaints here!

Our first doctor's appointment was on June 8, 2011. I learned a lot this first visit, lol, that I won't get in to. They did an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. Seeing our baby for the first time was so surreal. It didn't look like much; just a little bean, but it's our bean :) We also got to hear the heartbeat, which was amazing too. Justin about lost it at that point, but he held it together. We learned Jan. 19, 2012 was our official due date.

This week marked 12 weeks, so we had another doctor's appointment this morning. No ultrasound, but we did get to hear the heartbeat again. Just as strong and as sweet as can be! Since everything went well, today was the day we decided to announce it to the world. We've both been overwhelmed by all the warm wishes and prayers we've received from family and friends. It's so touching to see how many people truly care about us. It's just such a great feeling to see how many people are going to love on our baby.

Though the journey is just beginning, here are two photos of me so far. The first is the week we found out - no bump yet! The next was taken this morning... there's a little something there, I think.
Anywho, that's all for now. Keep checking back for updates on Baby Wood. We're so excited to become parents & Macy is so excited for human brother/sister to play with!

Super Bowl Sunday Highlight Reel

Some of you might not know this, but I'm a sucker for sporting events. I love the competition, picking a team to root for and learning the stories of certain players. Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorites. Not only does it mean I finally get my husband back, but I can't get enough of everything that goes along with the game. There are plenty of celebrities to spot, lame commercials, yummy tailgating food, funny-sounding penalties (i.e. illegal touching, hands tothe face.) - oh, and, of course - football!

This year, Justin and I threw hopefullyour first of many Super Bowl parties. We had a great time having friends over, and already can't wait to do it again next year! I thought I'd touch on my favorite parts of the day:

1. Our Guest of Honor for the day was Miss Hadley Walker making her first "big party" appearance. Macy has never met an actual human babyfor her, so the sight of the mini-person intrigued her. She just couldn't understand why wouldn't we let her pounce her. So, withparental approval, Macy was allowed to sniff her out, which of course resulted in Hadley getting a doggy kiss. Lol, it was the cutest thing ever... unfortunately, I was not able to capture the exact moment on camera, but I did get a good amount while Emily was holding Hadley.

2. We actually started and filled up an entire squares game! It was awesome! I was so excited when Melanie won the first quarter. Since she's new to the US, this was her first Super Bowl party, so I'm glad she had a great experience! Although, I think the best part, was when the fourth quarter winner went to collect his $25 payout, somehow the only thing left was 19 bucks and 2 Forever stamps... huh? Sorry Darrin!

3. As many of you know, the guys play Fantasy Football every year. This time around, they decided to give actual "trophies" - one for the winner and one for the loser. So, an impromptu trophy presentation took place. See below for photos... I think they say it all. Congrats Derek on a good season!

Until next time...

Rolling Outages, Really?

So there I was... half asleep... shampoo in my hair... and then... darkness. The "rolling outage" epidemic hit the Wood home while I was in the shower. Of course.

Unaware of the existence of "rolling outages," I couldn't help but think about how the rest of the morning was going to play out as I rinsed off. How was I going to blow dry my hair? How was I going to get my car out of the garage? I can't put my makeup on in this lighting. How long was it going to take to come back on because there's no way I'm leaving my baby girl Macy in a freezing house all day?

While the passing minutes began to pile up, it became quite clear I was going to be late to work. As I brushed through my wet hair for the millionth time, I became immediately jealous of the male gender. Justin, completely uninhibited by the lack of electricity, hopped in and out of the shower and was ready for work in a mere 15 minutes.

I decided to start packing my belongings with the intent to get ready at the office. I also tried to call the local doggie daycare, but their power was out too. Here lies the underlying problem. I couldn't leave the house until I knew Macy wouldn't freeze her adorable, floppy ears off! Crazy? Maybe. But I just can't help it! I love her...

So finally, I texted my boss with the inevitable news. I was going to be very late. I only wish I had thought of this earlier because just as I pressed send the lights returned. Hallelujah!

As my day winds down, I read on chron.com that more outages are very likely and will be accompanied my a freezing rain/sleet/snow combination. Traffic should be a total blast tomorrow! On the bright side though, how fun is snow in Houston :) ?

Happy New Year!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It's been so long since I've updated!!! The last half of 2010 was crazy busy!

2010 was another great year for us, and we're so excited to see what 2011 will bring!

Justin and I had a blast celebrating the holidays this year. Justin took me to see Pat Green for my birthday. He puts on such a great show! Afterward, Pat Green signed my koozie, "happy birthday!" It's my official drinking koozie from now on!

My mom came up and spent Christmas with us. Even though we've been in our house for over a year, this was the first Christmas we hosted. We made a Mexican feast complete with tamales and my sister's beans. Her beans are so good!!!

On Dec. 29, we went to cheer on my Bears at the Texas Bowl. Despite the torrential rain and the embarrassing loss, I had a great time seeing Baylor play in Houston and catching up with friends. We went out afterward around Rice Village. It was a pretty eventful night, lol. We'll leave it at that!

Then, we spent NYE this past weekend in San Antonio with friends. I think I had enough chips, salsa and margaritas to last me through 2011... seriously! But, the Riverwalk is so pretty during the holidays. This was our second year to go for NYE; I hope we go back every year!

Now, we're back home. Back to reality. Justin went back to work today, but my office doesn't open until tomorrow. I got lucky! So, I've been spending the day watching Fresh Prince reruns and playing with Macy!

I guess that's about it for now - here's to 2011 and everything it might bring!!!
